The Indiana state governor is against the development of land based casinos.
However, there is a state senator that is working towards future casinos.
Sen. Earline Rogers, a democrat from Gary, is concerned over the effect
communities are having from the decline in revenues from casinos in addition to
the growing out of state casino competition. She is hopeful that Gov. Mike Pence
would be willing to reconsider his opinion.
The governor declared last week that he intends to keep casinos on riverboats on
Lake Michigan and the Ohio River.
Last year, revenues earned from state casino taxes dropped 13 percent.
