PRESS RELEASE
July 15, 2016
Foxwoods® Resort Casino has reported slot revenue of $35.3 million for the month
of June 2016. This figure is down 8.4 percent compared to $38.6 million in June
of 2015. Handle for the month was $442 million, down 8.8 percent from the $484.9
million wagered in the same month in 2015.
Foxwoods' contribution to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund in June 2016 is
$8.9 million, bringing the cumulative contribution to the state since Foxwoods
opened in 1992 to over $3.9 billion.
June was a game-changing month for the property as the Mashantucket Pequot
Tribal Nation announced plans to develop and operate Foxwoods Resort Casino at
Biloxi Pointe in Mississippi. The news followed Foxwoods' exciting reveal of
four future celebrity-helmed dining experiences, including Guy Fieri's Kitchen +
Bar at Foxwoods, Richard Rawlings' GARAGE Bar & Grill, Sugar Factory American
Brasserie and Cat Cora's Wine Bar, all set to open this fall.
Foxwoods also cemented its position as the premier resort destination in the
Northeast for guests and team members alike with multiple industry accolades.
The Grand Pequot Tower and Fox Tower were certified as AAA Four Diamond Hotels
for the fourteenth and ninth consecutive years respectively, and the property
collected two American Business Awards for outstanding efforts in environmental
services and human resources.
The June entertainment slate was not to be outdone, as Foxwoods showcased its
deep lineup of diverse entertainment offerings with shows from Hollywood legend
Al Pacino, Australian sensation Thunder From Down Under, mind-bending magician
Michael Carbonaro and a jaw-dropping residency from Nik Wallenda's Zirkus. The
fun continued with stellar comedy performances from Maria Bamford and Cedric the
Entertainer.
July is already off to a hot start, as Patricia Elliott of Elmont, NY won the $1
million jackpot at Foxwoods' annual Firecracker Bingo tournament, which also
marked the 30th anniversary of the property's historic bingo hall. The Grand
Theater hosted show-stopping concerts from Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe
Perry's rock super group Hollywood Vampires, folk luminary Bob Dylan, and neo
soul pioneer Maxwell. At the Fox Tower pool, celebrity DJ Pauly D turned the
tables for Independence Day weekend at Liquid Sundays, the Northeast's only
Vegas-style pool party.
Throughout July, guests at Foxwoods can enjoy a slew of top-tier comedy acts
including Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan and Steven Wright. For the classic rock
aficionados, Foreigner and Jeff Beck with Buddy Guy are set to take the stage at
Foxwoods' state-of-the-art Grand Theater. The month will close out with a smooth
performance from award-winning jazz vocalist Robert Davi.
