PRESS RELEASE
Madison, Wisconsin - Ho-Chunk Gaming - Madison (Dejope Gaming) made a local
resident an instant millionaire after she hit a $1,087,055 jackpot, the largest
payout ever for HCG-Madison. She asked that her name not be released to the
public.
"I was just ready to leave," she said "I was surprised and shocked…one of the
employees had to tell me that I won." She hit the jackpot on a Bally
Technologies "Million Degrees" machine by playing a $3 maximum bet on a penny
denomination. Just a few weeks ago she won another $9,000 on the same machine.
Her initial plans for the winnings are to get a chauffeur for her mother who is
in nursing care, pay bills and travel.
"We are so pleased and excited that it went to a local, regular player here,"
said Carole Laustrup, Ho-Chunk Gaming (Dejope) Executive Manager. "The buzz on
our gaming floor since the jackpot really reflects our mission of creating an
atmosphere that is fun and exciting for our guests and ambassadors."
The Million Degrees machines were introduced at Dejope in March 2010. Bally
Technologies manufactures and operates the 1,000,000 Degrees Class II slot
machines, and they pay the jackpot directly to the winner in an annuity or lump
sum. The 1,000,000 Degrees penny machine jackpots start at $30 for a three coin
wager and are linked to machines in other Native American casinos throughout the
United States. They are part of a Wide Area Progressive network.
