JOPLIN, MO - The Downstream Casino Resort, which opened its casino in July, will
now accept a limited number of guests in its new 22-story hotel. John Berrey,
business committee chairman of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, said it was a "soft
opening". The grand opening for the general public is scheduled for Saturday,
November 22nd, and will feature Barry Switzer, former football coach for the
University of Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys.
The hotel has 222 rooms and 15 luxury suites with one and two-bedrooms. The
penthouse hosts a VIP lounge. The lobby features a large, metal sculpture in the
shape of traditional Quapaw pottery. Downstairs from the lobby is a fitness
center and pool.
