Officials for New York's gaming board are being pressured by a group to not to consider awarding the last available casino license.
Last year the board awarded three out of the four gaming licenses. Each license was given to different regions of new York. The fourth license would be located in the southern tier of the state.
The group that wants to stop further casinos in the Coalition Against Gambling in New York. On Monday the group contacted an official for the Gaming Commission.
In the letter, the group stated that they believe casinos would be detrimental to both the residents and to the state. They also believe adding a fourth casino in not necessary and they are against plans for the approved casino projects in the other regions.
The Southern Tier has support for obtaining the fourth license. Governor Cuomo plans to ask the gaming board to reconsider awarding the last license.
