The first casino in New York City opened its doors on Friday. The Resorts World
Casino had thousands of people waiting to go inside. For some the wait was a few
hours to get in. The casino managed to fill maximum capacity as soon as the
doors opened.
Currently the state law only allows for video gaming. Some visitors to the
casino expressed disappointment of not having a live dealer, however they were
also happy to have a casino in the city. A portion from the video gaming will go
to help with state funds. The state is hopeful that amount earned from the
gaming will help increase the funds to the state.
Located at the Aqueduct Racetrack, the casino was built to help the economic
down turn that has affected the city. Supporters of the new casino are hopeful
that the location will help attract locals and tourists alike. The gaming
facility is located near the subway and also close to the airport. Being that it
is conveniently located, the casino is advertising that people will not need to
travel out of the state to gamble anymore.
The Resorts World Casino is 10 minutes from the JFK Airport. Also Manhattan is
only 25 minutes from the casino.
