ST. LOUIS - After 6 years of planning and 18 months of construction, the new $375 million River City Casino is scheduled to open in early March. It will be located in Lemay just south of River Des Peres. The owner is Pinnacle Entertainment, which also owns the Lumière Place in downtown St. Louis.
"Things are really rolling along," said Pinnacle spokesman Mack Bradley.
River City will have a 90,000-square foot gambling area with more than 2,000 slot machines and 55 table games. It will include restaurants and a bar.
The Missouri Gaming Commission must give its final approval before the casino opens for business. Members are expected to vote on the matter at its February meeting. That will be followed by a review over the following weeks to insure the casino meets state standards.
The River City Casino is expected to generate $1.25 million a month in tax revenue for the county. An opening before June 1 would bring a little upside to the projected revenue.
