The Bay Mills Casino and Resort in Vanderbilt will close for 2 days. This is to
allow for the casino to finish preparations for a grand reopening.
The casino had been undergoing renovations. The size of the casino has doubled.
Guests will now be able to enjoy 84 slot machines. There are also updates to the
restrooms. The casino will be open daily from 9AM to 1AM.
The Bay Mills Indian Community is still battling a lawsuit over the legality of
the casino. The tribe is being sued by the Attorney General's office and the
Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa tribe. Stating that the casino was opened
illegally under laws that prohibit gaming. They are suing the BMIC to
permanently close the Vanderbilt casino. The BMIC claims the gaming facility is
legal since it was opened on Indian land.
