The deadline to apply for last available casino license has been given a new date.

Originally the due date was on Monday.

On Thursday the state Gaming Commission announced that interested developers have until May 4 to finalize requirements and arrange for financial backing.

Both Somerset and New Bedford have interested casino developers.

The proposed New Bedford casino has agreed to pay the city $4.5 million at the start of the project. $12.5 million would be paid every year after the casino begins operating. The proposed casino would cost $650 million to complete.

Foxwoods, from Connecticut, would operate the casino.
