The release date for the environmental impact report for the future Everett casino is being delayed. Wynn Resorts is the developer for the proposed casino.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has required the report. The original submission date for the was October 15. It is now expected that a supplemental report will be released by the end of the year.
Opponents to the casino believe that the reason behind the delay is related to the up coming election. The ballot contains a measure that would repeal the state casino law. It is believed that if the report is released it could contain negative information about the proposed casino. The report may sway voters to approve the ballot measure.
Representative from Wynn Resorts state that the new release date for the report is not connected to the election.
