Plans have been released for the new Worcester casino project. Details were
presented at a meeting with the Economic Development and Public Safety
The proposed casino will be located in the Green Island neighborhood of
Worcester, and cost $240 million to complete.
Currently there is only one Category 2 gaming license available in the state.
Mass Gaming & Entertainment LLC is behind the Worcester casino and has applied
for the license. If approved, the casino will be allowed to operate Vegas style
gaming. This would mean that the casino will have slot machines.
Plans also show a downtown hotel for the casino guests.
If approved, both the casino and hotel will create temporary construction jobs
plus 600 permeate jobs for the area.
