Louisiana will be celebrating 20 years of casino gaming next year. The state will also see the opening of three new casinos.

One of the new casinos is Margaritaville Casino Resort. Construction is happening now and should be complete in time for the grand opening in August of 2013. When finished, the property will have a resort hotel with 400 guest rooms, a theater, and a pool. There will also be the Margaritaville Restaurant.

Recently the Southern Gaming Conference was held in Biloxi, Mississippi. Louisiana's gaming expansion and the state's gaming future were some of the topics discussed.

It is uncertain how the gaming market will respond when the new casinos open. Experts discussed the possibility of gaming revenue coming from either existing visitors to the casino area or bring new gamers to the area. There was also discussion about the new casinos in Oklahoma, and how there closer location may attract guests away from the Shreveport - Bossier.

The developer for Margaritaville projects a growth of 12.5% and is certain the casino location will attract visitors heading north to Oklahoma.
