Eastern Kansas's Woodlands racing facility was sold to a billionaire and it is unknown what will happen next to the property.

Phil Ruffin is the business man that purchase the facility. He is the owner of a casino in Las Vegas.

In 2007 Lawmakers approved the operation of slot machines. However the tax on the machines was too high for the racino.

The race track closed in 2008.

It is possible that The Woodlands could reopen as a racino. However, Ruffin stated that he would like the tax structure to change before he did that. He also owns two additional Kansas tracks.
