A series of discussions are scheduled to take place over the proposed casino
project along North China Lake Boulevard in Ridgecrest. The casino would be
off-reservation and owned by the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe.
The City Council met on Wednesday for a Town Hall discussion. The next meeting
will take place at 6 p.m. on May 11.
During the first meeting was scheduled with many speakers. The meeting was ended
before some of them were able to give their presentations.
On April 20 a ruling on the municipal services agreement with the tribe was
delayed in order for additional discussions on the proposed casino to take
place.
At Wednesday's meeting there were large numbers of supporters for the casino.
They held signs that read "Let RC grow". The meeting room was almost filled to
maximum occupancy.
If the plan is approved, $29 million would be spent on the first phase of the
casino. The second phase would cost $16.8 million.
