On Thursday ground was broken for the Washoe Tribe casino. It will be located
along Highway 395 and next to the tribe's travel plaza.
The project is a joint venture between the Washoe Tribe and the Poarch Creek
Indians of Alabama. The Poarch Creek's have been successful in operating
businesses in a similar nature.
The Wa She Shu Travel Plaza has already begun construction early this past
summer. It should be completed by March of next year. The casino should be
finished by the following year.
The travel plaza will create 20 jobs. 80 jobs will be created by the casino.
This will be the fourth largest casino in Carson Valley.
