A Topping Off Ceremony was held the new hotel at Viejas Casino. The construction
had entered into the final stages of the build.
Over 100 visitors attended the Tuesday's ceremony. Guests wearing orange safety
vests and hard hats were allowed to visit the top floor by using an elevator.
The five story hotel is where the bingo hall was previously located. When
completed, the hotel will have 128 guest rooms. The cost of the project is $36
million. The hotel is scheduled to open in March of 2013.
The cost of a deluxe guest room during a week night is expected to be $139.
Weekend prices are expected to cost $159.
The project was paid for entirely by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians.
Currently 400 people have been hired for the construction portion. 60 permanent
jobs will be created when the hotel opens.
