Oklahoma Received $202M from Tribal Gaming in FY2023

Oklahoma tribes paid $202 million to the State of Oklahoma for tribal gaming exclusivity fees in fiscal year 2023. Exclusivity fees are taxes paid by tribes on casino revenues from Class III slot machines and table games in compliance with tribal-state gaming compacts. Casino revenues were $3.34 billion.

The state redistributes the funds received from the tribes. In FY 2023, $177.8 million was paid to the Education Reform Revolving Fund (1017 Fund), $24 million was paid to the General Revenue Fund, and a fixed amount of $250,000 was paid to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Class III Gaming
At the end of fiscal year 2023, there were 33 tribes operating Class III gaming at 136 Indian-gaming facilities. The total number of Class III machines was 45,757.

Exclusivity Fee Schedule
Tribes pay the exclusivity fees for slot machines on a sliding scale:

First $10 million in revenue, the payment is 4%.
Next $10 million, the payment is 5%
Over $20 million, the payment is 6%.

Tribes pay 10% of the monthly net win from table games.
