The original Hollywood Casino opened in 1993 on two riverboats on the Fox River in downtown Aurora, Illinois. On June 27, 2023 the Aurora City Council approved plans submitted by Penn Entertainment to move Hollywood Casino to a new location near the Premium Outlets Mall.

The City Council voted 10-1 to approve the Hollywood Casino development plan and to rezone the new site to begin the construction later this year. The City must still give final approval to the designs and construction plans.

The new casino site is 18 acres near I-88. The location is west of Farnsworth Avenue, north of Corporate Boulevard, south of Bilter Road, and east of Church Road.
