Colorado has 2 Indian casinos operating in the southwestern part of the
state. In 1995 Colorado signed gaming compacts with the Ute Mountain Tribe near Cortez and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe
near Durango. These tribes operate Vegas-style casinos on their reservations
under the Federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988.
In addition the state has licensed 18 casinos in Black Hawk, 14 casinos in
Cripple Creek and 6 casinos in Central City.
