IGNACIO, CO - The Southern Ute Indian Tribe began construction on their new Sky Ute Casino in late 2006 with the grand opening planned for later this year. Roadwork is underway this week on Colorado Highway 172 as new pavement is being laid for turn lanes into and out of the casino property. The cost of the roadwork and traffic lights is paid for by the tribe.

New casino resort features:

300,000 total square feet
45,000 square-foot-casino
700 slot machines,
10 table games
Restaurants
Hotel with 140 rooms
     and 6 luxury suites
Bingo hall - 200 seats
Bowling alley - 24 lanes
Indoor pool
Video arcade
Banquet facilities
Retail space
Miniature golf

The current Sky Ute Casino opened in 1993 and employs 300 people. The new casino will employ 500.
