Beloit casino project status (April 2022)

April 8, 2022

The Ho-Chunk Nation has final approvals from both the federal and state governments to build a $705 million casino on a 32-acre site adjacent to Interstate 39/90 near Willowbrook and Colley roads.

Soil samples were taken last October which will determine the final project design. As that work proceeds the U.S. Department of Interior is preparing to transfer the casino land into federal trust for the tribe.

"The Nation anticipates that the final hurdle, the Interior taking the land into trust, will happen soon. So we are still hoping for a groundbreaking this year,"

- Ryan Greendeer, Ho-Chunk Public Information Officer

Greendeer also confirmed an amendment to add sports betting to the tribe's compact agreement is underway with the state. Last December the Ho-Chunk announced plans to allow sports betting at all of its gaming facilities in Wisconsin.
