For the fifth consecutive year Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort has won the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Award for "Best Casino Hotel". This year's list includes eight tribal casinos on the Top 10 List. Mohegan Sun's rival in Connecticut, Foxwoods Resort Casino, ranked ninth in the national poll after ranking third last year. However, Foxwoods ranked #1 as Best Casino in this year's poll.
Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort is located in Uncasville, Connecticut. Its 300,000-square-foot casino features 4,000 slot machines including a 20,000-square-foot smoke-free slots room, 300 table games, 30 poker tables and a sportsbook. The hotel has two towers, Earth Tower and Sky Tower, with a total capacity of 1,563 guestrooms and suites. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, pool, and the Mandara Spa.

A new agreement to "modernize gaming options" in Connecticut has been reached between Governor Ned Lamont and the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Tribes. The deal must now be approved by the state legislature.
The agreement is for ten years with a five-year extension option and includes sports betting and online gambling.

Sports betting has been legalized by the U.S. Supreme Court. Connecticut is considering allowing the game within the state's border. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is meeting with the state's Native American tribes to determine if a compromise can be made over revenue sharing and control over sports betting.
The Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Indians claim exclusive rights to the game. The tribes are the owners of the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casino resorts.
A special legislative session will be scheduled to discuss the issue.
The governor is interested in forming a new gaming compact with the tribes. He believes that in doing so, it would be beneficial for both the state and the tribes. A meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday between Gov. Malloy and tribal leaders.
Legislation was written after Keno was legalized in the state. A new agreement was made over the revenue sharing between the state and two tribal owned casinos located in the eastern part of the state.
Exclusive gaming rights to slot machines have been given to both the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Indian tribes. 25% of the revenue made from those games are paid to the state. This equals close to $250 million a year in payments.
