The $200 million WarHorse Casino Lincoln is under construction at the Lincoln Racecourse. Construction will be completed in phases following the groundbreaking July 12, 2022. The first phase opened a temporary casino on September 24, 2022. The casino features a 9,000-square-foot gaming area with 433 slot machines, sports betting, and both simulcast and live racing. The second phase will open in the second half of 2024 with a 220-room hotel, steakhouse restaurant, and event center.

WarHorse Casino Lincoln

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the Nebraska Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA) have partnered to build a $200 million casino at the Lincoln Racecourse in Lincoln, Nebraska. The casino will be named WarHorse Casino Lincoln and operated by the Winnebago Tribe's WarHorse Gaming LLC.

In addition to Warhorse Casino in Lincoln, there will be two other casinos built and managed by WarHorse Gaming LLC. These are Warhorse Casino Omaha in Omaha, NE, and Warhorse Casino Atokad in South Sioux City, NE.

WarHorse Casino Lincoln is a $200 million development project at the Lincoln Racecourse. Construction has proceeded on a multi-phase schedule. Phase One opened a temporary casino on September 24, 2022. Phase Two, which will be completed this fall, will add a permanent casino. Phase Three will complete a hotel and event center later this year.

The next construction phase at WarHorse Lincoln is starting this week. The project will take about a year and will double the size of the existing casino to provide more slot machines, new table games, a sportsbook, live racing, and more dining options.

When construction is completed, the casino will have 870 slot machines and 6-10 table games.

WarHorse Lincoln plans another construction project to follow sometime in the future. That plan will expand the casino to 1,100 slot machines and 30 table games and add a 196-room hotel.

WarHorse Lincoln Construction Plans 2023-2024

After opening a temporary casino last September, WarHorse casino in Lincoln is ready begin the next phase of construction to double the size of its casino. Construction will take about a year, and the start date is set follow a few weeks after construction begins on the Omaha casino.

The Lincoln casino currently operates 433 slot machines, a sportsbook, and the Winner's Circle Grill. The expanded casino will feature 870 slot machines, 6-10 table game, a sportsbook, live racing, and expanded dining.

Another expansion is planned for the future that will add a 196-room hotel and increase the casino to 1,100 slot machines and 30 table games. The timeframe for this expansion has not been announced.

Warhorse Lincoln opens Nebraska's first sportsbook today!

June 22, 2023

The first-ever sportsbook in Nebraska opens today in the WarHorse Casino Lincoln. Only on-site wagers are allowed under state law.

WarHorse Casino accepts wagers at its sportsbook window and any of 10 sportsbook kiosks. Wagers may be prepared on the WarHorse app prior to visiting the casino.

Warhorse Lincoln casino starting next construction phase

May 12, 2023

The next phase of construction at WarHorse Gaming Lincoln will start in July. The construction schedule will follow a similar plan at WarHorse Omaha and will take about 12 months to completed. When opened in the summer of 2024, the Lincoln casino will have doubled in size

The expanded WarHorse Lincoln casino will have increased the current number of slot machines from 433 to 870. The casino will have also added six to ten table games, more dining area, and 500 more parking stalls.

After the opening in mid-2024, construction will continue through the end of the year to add more gaming space, a 220-room hotel, convention and event center, and a parking garage. The fully expanded Lincoln casino will have 1,100 slot machines, 30 table game, sportsbook, simulcast and live racing.

First Nebraska casino opens in Lincoln

September 24, 2022

WarHorse Casino opened a temporary casino today at the Lincoln Race Course. Doors opened at 10:30 this morning. The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission gave final approval for the casino in a meeting yesterday.

WarHorse Casino Lincoln is the first state-licensed casino in Nebraska.

Construction of WarHorse Casino Lincoln is expected to up to 18 months. The first phase will open a casino this September reaturing 445 slot machines, sports betting, and simulcast and live racing. The second phase will open a hotel, event center and restaurant in September 2023.

WarHorse Gaming files casino applications for Omaha and Lincoln

June 4, 2022

WarHorse Gaming filed official applications on Thursday with the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission to build and operate racetrack casinos in Omaha and Lincoln. The filings immediately followed the commission's approval of a casino license fee structure passed as the final regulatory provision to start the application process. The commission will now take 30-60 day to review the applications, and if approved, WarHorse will start construction immediately on both casinos.

New Warhorse Casino planned for Lincoln NE

January 9, 2021

A new $200M casino will be built by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska at the Lincoln Race Course in Lincoln, NE. Some initial casino gambling will be introduced at the racetrack by the second half of 2021, and full casino operations will begin in 2022.

The full-gaming casino will take 9-12 months to build. When finished, the original gaming building will be converted to sports betting, and the new building will open with a large gaming floor and a restaurant. The number of slot machines and gaming tables will announced after licensing and approvals are completed. A hotel is planned soon afterwards.
