Final Approval for Philadelphia Park Casino

HARRISBURG - The plan to build a $250 million casino at Philadelphia Park in Bensalem was approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Groundbreaking for the new casino is scheduled for March 2008 and the casino opening will be November 2009.

The casino will be built about 600 feet from the grandstand with a landscaped walkway between the buildings. It will have with a horseracing theme, heated pavilions and gazebos. A free shuttle bus service will run every 20 minutes during live and simulcast racing.

  • Two 10-story video boards outside the main entrance

TEMPORARY CASINO IN GRANDSTAND

The gaming control board also approved 260 additional slot machines in the grandstand for a total of 2,703. The gaming floor will also be increased by 8,607 square feet for a total of 77,390.

The temporary casino will shut down when the new casino opens.
