Casino style gambling may still be a possibility in Massachusetts as indicated on Thursday by Governor Deval Patrick. This was made during his radio appearance that he does monthly. However, House Speaker Robert DeLeo still has concerns over slot parlors. The governor has been having discussions with DeLeo and plans to continue these discussions. Last year Legislature approved a gaming bill. However, Governor Patrick had rejected a bill allowing for four of the state’s racetracks to operate slot machines. The bill also allowed for three casino resorts to be built. The governor had rejected the bill stating that he could not support race track owners to have no-bid contracts. Yet, the governor states he is still in support of casinos in the state. Patrick also made it known that his administration’s strategy for job growth is not based around gaming.
