Mohegan Sun Casino Palmer

July 18, 2009

PALMER, MA - Mohegan Sun hopes to build a huge casino-hotel complex on 152 acres in Palmer, a town in western Massachusetts. Recent surveys show Palmer residents favor the project and state voters would approve a casino referendum if on the ballot.

The Mohegan Sun has become one of the largest names in the Indian gaming industry with casinos in Connecticut and the Poconos of Pennsylvania. Their website has a special page devoted to their vision of a casino, hotel and spa near the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer. The casino would feature slot machines, table games and poker and surrounded with world-class restaurants
and internationally branded retail stores. The hotel would host 600 rooms
and suites.

The estimated employment for Massachusetts residents is 1,000-1,200 constructions jobs and 3,000 permanent jobs. Supporting businesses would add up to 2,500 new jobs.
