BOSTON - The state Senate voted 29-9 today to approve the creation of a 13-member special commission to study casinos. The bill was proposed by Sen. Stanley C. Rosenberg, D-Amherst, the Senate
president pro tempore, who said the study would look at issues such as the
effects of expanded gambling on the state Lottery, the rights of the state's two
Indian tribes to have casinos, and the economic impacts. The commission’s report will be due by February 15, 2009. Return to Massachusetts Casinos. |
