Hard Rock Las Vegas Marks Two Years of Construction as Guitar Hotel Nears Major Exterior Milestone

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Sept. 18, 2026 - Nearly two years after construction began on Hard Rock Las Vegas, the project's signature Guitar Hotel has reached a new stage of development, with most of its distinctive blue-glass exterior now installed and the tower emerging as one of the most recognizable new landmarks on the Las Vegas Strip.

New photographs taken Sept. 6 show the 42-story Guitar Hotel largely enclosed in reflective blue glass, highlighting the dramatic transformation of the former Mirage resort site since work commenced in September 2024. While exterior construction remains ongoing, the images indicate the resort has entered another highly visible phase as crews continue work on the tower's upper sections and signature lighting features.

The tower's curved guitar-shaped profile is now clearly visible from multiple vantage points around the Strip. Most facade panels appear to be in place across the building's broad exterior surfaces, although construction cranes remain atop the structure and portions of the tower's central and upper sections continue to show active work.

The latest milestone represents significant progress for what has become one of the largest and most closely watched resort developments currently under construction in Las Vegas. Since topping out earlier this year, construction activity has increasingly shifted toward exterior finishing, interior build-out, and installation of the tower's signature design elements.

The Guitar Hotel is expected to serve as the centerpiece of the reimagined Hard Rock Las Vegas resort. Once completed, the tower will feature approximately 600 guest rooms and suites and form part of a larger resort complex that will include roughly 3,600 hotel rooms, an expanded casino, new entertainment venues, restaurants, retail space and meeting facilities.

Recent construction updates have noted continued installation of the tower's blue-glass facade and the hardware that will support the building's signature LED guitar-string lighting system. When completed, the illuminated strings are expected to become one of the most distinctive nighttime features on the Las Vegas skyline.

The visual transformation captured in the Sept. 6 photographs underscores how far the project has progressed in a relatively short period. Two years ago, the site was still in the early stages of redevelopment following the closure of the Mirage. Today, the towering blue-glass structure dominates the center Strip skyline and offers the clearest indication yet of Hard Rock's vision for the property.

Construction also continues throughout the former Mirage complex, where extensive renovations are underway to hotel rooms, casino space and back-of-house areas as Hard Rock prepares the resort for its anticipated opening.

Despite the scale of the redevelopment, Hard Rock Las Vegas remains on schedule for its planned 2027 debut. As work advances on both the Guitar Hotel and the broader resort campus, the project continues to move closer to becoming the first tribal-owned integrated resort located directly on the Las Vegas Strip.
