Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River was previously named the Majestic Pines Casino. Its name changed during a 2-year rebranding project that began in early 2012 when the Ho-Chunk Nation decided to rename all their casinos to the Ho-Chunk Gaming brand.
In September 2016, ground breaking took place as part of a multi million expansion project for the casino. A new 120 room hotel, expanded gaming floor, and a high limit gaming room will be added. Regular operating hours remained while the construction wass taking place. The casino phase of the project opened in July 2017. The new hotel is scheduled to be completed by February 2018.
