Location

The location for the Golden Nugget Danville casino will be 204 Eastgate Drive in the Southgate Industrial Park. A former warehouse has been demolished and removed from the site.

Timeline

June 2019
Danville, Illinois is one of six cities selected for a new casino under the Rebuild Illinois Law enacted last June.

July 2019
Danville City Council set up a steering committee comprised of city and business leaders to recommend qualified candidates as casino operators. The committee made its recommendations, and the council sent each referral a Solicitation for Proposal for the Danville casino project.

Seven candidates responded favorably with Intent to Reply. Their deadline for submitting a proposal was July 31. Only two proposals were received by that time so the deadline was extended to August 21.

October 2019
The Illinois Gaming Board met Oct 28 for final review and approved a Danville casino proposal by Danville Development LLC.

November 2021
Danville Development LLC updated and resubmitted its application to the Illinois Gaming Board for the Danville casino to be named Golden Nugget Danville. The project is led by Wilmorite Construction of Rochester, NY, who secured the Golden Nugget branding for the casino, online sports wagering and a Landry's steakhouse.

March 2022
The Illinois Gaming Board approved the plan for Golden Nugget Danville and issued a Determination of Preliminary Suitability.

May 2023
The Illinois Gaming Board approved a temporary operating license to Golden Nugget Danville. The casino opened on May 27, 2023.

The Golden Nugget Casino in Danville received a permanent casino license from the Illinois Gaming Control Board (IGB) last Thursday. The casino opened last May with a temporary license from the board.

Danville's Golden Nugget casino license was approved by a 3-0 vote by IGB members. The license is valid for four years and must be renewed by the IGB in October 2027.

Golden Nugget Casino is open 8am to daily and features 500 slot machines and 14 table games.

Danville's new Golden Nugget Casino is Now Open!

June 3, 2023

The new Golden Nugget Casino opened last Saturday in Danville, Illinois. The doors were opened to the public at 4:00 PM on May 27th, following the issuance of a temporary operating permit by the Illinois Gaming Board. A grand opening celebration will be delayed until after tje permanent casino license is issued by the board.

TUE - Closed
WED - 4 PM to 12 AM

Golden Nugget Danville is on-schedule to open April 2023

November 25, 2022

Casino GM Basens has confirmed to media that construction of the Golden Nugget in Danville, IL is on schedule for completion by April 2023. All the exterior work on the 60,000-square-foot casino is nearly completed. The parking lots and sidewalks have been paved, and all the trees have been planted.

"With the weather being good, we're close to being weathered in with practically all outdoor work finished. We're happy with that. We're already framing indoors."

When Golden Nugget Danville opens next March, it will feature a 41,500-square-foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines, 14 table games and a sportsbook. Dining venues will include a Landry's Saltgrass Steakhouse and a Sports Bar.

Golden Nugget Danville gets green light from Illinois Gaming Board

March 18, 2022

Last week the Golden Nugget Danville took a major step forward when the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB)issued a "preliminary finding of suitability". The is the prerequisite action of the IGB in its process of granting a full casino license.

Golden Nugget Danville joins four other approved casino projects in Illinois. Only Chicago is still in the casino selection process. The Illinois Gaming Board has already issued its Determination of Preliminary Suitability for American Place in Waukegan, Hard Rock Casino in Rockford, Wind Creek Illinois in South Suburbs and Walker's Bluff Casino Resort in Williamson County.
