Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Begins $47 Million Hotel Renovation, Marking First Full Room Overhaul in 20 Years
Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino has announced a sweeping $47 million renovation of its hotel tower, initiating the first complete room overhaul in two decades and signaling a new era for one of Western New York's most prominent hospitality destinations.
The project, beginning in October 2026, will upgrade all 594 rooms and suites across 22 floors, encompassing 394,000 square feet in what is recognized as the region's largest hotel. Renovations will be executed in three-floor phases, with full completion targeted for December 2027.
A Vision for Elevated Luxury
Seneca Resorts & Casinos President and CEO Kevin Nephew said the renovation reflects the company's commitment to maintaining a world-class guest experience.
"Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is the gateway to bold, distinctive and memorable experiences for our guests," Nephew said. "With this latest evolution, we continue to elevate our world-class atmosphere and keep Seneca Niagara at the leading edge of luxury."
The renovation includes new finishes, fixtures, carpets, tiles, wall coverings, bathrooms, vanities, shower systems, and custom artwork. Hotel corridors and elevators will also receive upgrades as part of the modernization effort.
Design Inspired by Niagara's Natural Landscape
Seneca Gaming Corporation Vice President of Design & Construction Joseph Fanara showcased prototype rooms to media, revealing two distinct design palettes:
Earth-tone rooms inspired by the Niagara Gorge, and river-tone rooms featuring blues and cool hues drawn from the Niagara River.
Fanara emphasized that the design team worked closely with the Seneca Nation to incorporate cultural elements, including the Seneca Nation seal featured on custom bed throws.
Operational Continuity During Construction
Renovations will be conducted three floors at a time, with dedicated elevators and coordinated housekeeping to ensure the remaining rooms stay available for guests. The resort continues to be a major draw, serving 181,000 occupied rooms in 2025 and approximately 141,000 so far in 2026.
Strategic Investment Amid Regional Competition
The renovation comes as the Niagara Falls gaming market prepares for potential expansion across the river in Ontario, where officials have signaled interest in attracting new casino developers. Seneca's $47 million investment positions the resort to remain competitive in an evolving tourism landscape.
Looking Ahead
Seneca Resorts & Casinos leadership hinted that this project is only the beginning. Additional upgrades are being explored across the company's three properties - Seneca Niagara, Seneca Allegany, and Seneca Buffalo Creek - marking what officials describe as an "exciting new chapter."
