Rosie's Gaming Emporium opens at Colonial Downs

Rosie's Gaming Emporium at Colonial Downs officially opened for business yesterday. The new facility is located within the former racetrack which closed in 2014.

Last year the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation to help return horse racing to the state with revenues from special gaming machines that look similar to Vegas slot machines, but are actually Historical Horse Racing machines. Players do not bet against the house, instead their bets go into a pool that is paid out to winners. The Historical Horse Racing games are actually based on real parimutuel horse racing results. Winners must bet on the winning horses before actual race is revealed.

Rosie's Gaming Emporium at Colonial Downs opens everyday at 8AM and closes at 2AM weeknights and 4AM Friday-Saturday nights. Live horse racing will return to the track on August 8.
