The Cherokee Nation is building a new casino in Tahlequah, the historic capital of the Cherokee Nation. This new casino will replace the existing Tahlequah casino.

New Cherokee Casino Tahlequah celebrates groundbreaking

March 26, 2018

A celebration for the ground breaking of the new Cherokee Casino Tahlequah is being planned. It will be held at 1 PM on March 26, 2018. It is being hosted by the Cherokee Nation.

Cherokee Springs Plaza is the location for the new casino. The project will add more dining and entertainment to the area. As well as bring options for conventions and meetings.

When completed the new Cherokee Casino will operate a total of 525 electronic games. The total size of the casino will be 92,000 square feet. There will be a venue that will offer live music entertainment. Beverage stations will offer complimentary non-alcoholic drinks for guests. A cafe will offer grab and go style of food. There will also be a sit down restaurant. As well as a full service bar.

There will also be space for meetings and conventions. The size of that space will be over 33,000 large square feet.

The Cherokee Nation is the owner of the company, Cherokee Nation Entertainment. The company is the only owner of the casino. There are nine Cherokee Casinos. The company also operates Tulsa's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. It also owns retail, tourism, and hospitality businesses for the tribe.

Located a few miles south of Tahlequah is the current Cherokee Casino Tahlequah. The new casino will replace the current location.

The state of Oklahoma has received an economic impact of $2.03 billion due to the tribe's different businesses. There are over 11,000 people currently employed by the Cherokee Nation.
