2020 Preview: Casinos in Palm Springs Area

There are two major expansions underway in 2020 in the Palm Springs area. First, Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa will complete its 65,000-square-foot addition featuring 800 more slots and more restaurant space. Second, the Agua Caliente tribe will continue construction on its new Cathedral City casino opening in early 2021.

Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa

Morongo will complete its major expansion project in mid-2020. It will add 65,000 square feet of gamiing space to include 800 more slot machines and more table games. This is a 30% increase of the present gaming floor.

The expansion project has also included new restaurants and more parking. Restaurants on the first floor have been redesigned and upgraded, and a 750-space parking garage has been built.

Agua Caliente Cathedral City

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla is building its third casino on a 14-acre parcel in Cathedral City. The construction site is located at the corner of Highway 111 and Date Palm Drive.

When it opens in early 2021 the casino will have 40,000 square feet of gaming space with 500 slot machines and 8 table games. The will be 5,000 square feet of restaurant space.

Two landmark casinos are rebranded "Agua Caliente Casinos"

March 1, 2019

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have renamed both of their casino as Agua Caliente Casinos brand. The Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage is now the Agua Caliente Casino Rancho Mirage and the Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs is now the Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs.

Agua Caliente Casinos Chief Operating Officer Saverio R. Scheri III issued this statement:

"This is an exciting time for the Agua Caliente Casinos as we refine and enhance the guest experience at our luxurious resort in Rancho Mirage and our gaming and dining offerings at our Palm Springs property, and it's also the perfect time to introduce a new unified brand where one name truly says it all."

"We are thrilled to invite guests to enjoy all of our extraordinary additions and enhancements in an upscale resort environment with excellent service. Both of our properties have everything casino guests are looking for, and it's all happening now."

Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs has recently renovated its Oasis Buffet and added the new Java Caliente Cafe to their main atrium area. It is open 24 hours daily.

Agua Caliente Casino Rancho Mirage has recently added other property changes. The Steakhouse has been redesigned and upgraded, The Casino Bar was added, the Poker Room was updated, and a new high-limit slot room and table games room were added. IOn addition, the Pivat Cigar Lounge opened as a cigar lounge and bar, the 360 Sports Bar opened 1,200 square feet of live sports action, and a new fast-casual dining venue opened named The District which offers ACE Deli, Jade asian menu and La Olla Mexican food.
