Trent Troxel, VP Catawba Nation Gaming Authority, told WCNC the next step is planning for the expansion and preparation of the workforce needed before the opening of the new casino.

"Right now, we have around 490 employees. We're going to hire 2,000 more employees between now and 2027, when we open up the permanent casino."

The permanent casino will operate in a multi-level building. The introductory casino will be on the groundlevel and feature 1,336 slot machines and 22 table games. Floors 2,3 and 4 will be parking levels, and back-of=house operations will run on the fifth floor. The main casino will be expanded into the top floor by 2027 and feature 4,300 slot machines and 100 table games.
