MADERA, Calif. The new timeline surfaced this week through promotional materials and industry reporting, including CDC Gaming, marking the first time the tribe or its partners have committed to a specific month.
The announcement comes amid ongoing legal uncertainty. In April 2026, the California Supreme Court declined to review a lower-court ruling that found the casino "not authorized by the state of California." This left in place a December 2025 appellate decision concluding that the tribe's original state compact was invalidated when voters rejected the project in a 2014 referendum.
Despite that setback, the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians has repeatedly stated that its federal approvals-secured in 2012 and 2016-are final and non-appealable, and that construction will continue.
