The Heights Casino Development Update - Trinidad Rancheria Advances Hotel and Infrastructure Projects
TRINIDAD, CA - July 7, 2026 - The Trinidad Rancheria is moving forward with a series of major development projects surrounding The Heights Casino, marking one of the most significant resort-area expansions on California's North Coast in more than a decade. The Tribe's plans include a new Hyatt Place hotel, a fueling station restart, and long-term harbor and waterfront improvements designed to strengthen tourism and economic activity in the Trinidad region.
Hyatt Place Hotel Moves Toward Construction
The centerpiece of the Rancheria's development program is a five-story, approximately 100-room Hyatt Place hotel planned directly adjacent to The Heights Casino. The project received conditional concurrence from the California Coastal Commission in April 2026, pending finalization of fire-protection agreements with the City of Trinidad.
Once construction begins, the hotel will introduce modern lodging to the blufftop casino district, supporting longer stays, expanded tourism, and a more complete resort experience for visitors traveling along Highway 101.
Fueling Station Project Set to Restart
The Rancheria's long-planned fueling station is expected to restart in coordination with hotel construction. The station will serve casino patrons, hotel guests, and local traffic along Scenic Drive, adding convenience and supporting the broader resort footprint.
Harbor & Waterfront Improvements Strengthen Regional Tourism
Beyond the casino district, the Trinidad Rancheria is advancing upgrades around Trinidad Harbor
