The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is building the first casino resort in Texas! The tribe has federal approval to build the Indian gaming casino on off-reservation land in Leggett, Polk County, Texas north of Houston. The plans include a hotel, restaurants, entertainment venues, and family-friendly attractions. Construction will begin June 18, 2026. A temporary casino will open this summer to operate during construction. No completion date has been announced.

Naskila Casino Resort
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe casino will offer Class II gaming, which is defined as gambling played exclusively against other players and not the house. This includes bingo-style slot machines, bingo, poker, and other "non-banked" card games.
The casino will include a hotel, restaurants, and an entertainment venue. Further details have not been announced but are expected in the coming months.
Project Status
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is currently finalizing the design and development plans to start construction.
The new casino resort has federal approval from the U.S. Supreme Court. In June 2023 the court ruled that Texas tribes are allowed to operate Class II gaming on their reservations without state approval. Class II gaming is defined as casino games played against other players rather than the "house". Games include bingo-style slot machines where jackpots are paid from other player bets.
Construction is scbeduled to begin with a groundbvreaking ceremony on June 18, 2026. No date for completion has be projected. During construction, a temporary casino with 300 slot machines will operate on the property during the construction period. The temporary casino is scheduled to open sometime this summer.
Casino Location
The Alabama-Coushatta casino resort will be in Southeast Texas about an hour and a half north of Houston. The location is on tribal land along US 59/I-69 North at Farm to Market Road 942 just southeast of Leggett in east Polk County, Texas.
Alabama-Coushatta Tribe
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe currently owns and operates Naskila Gaming in Livingston, Texas. The casino features 800 slot machines, and the Ischoopa Travel Center & Casino, which has 81 slot machines, a convenience store, and fuel station.
Naskila Gaming is relocating to the new Naskila Casino Resort when it opens and will discontinue its operation in Livingston.
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe has a history in Texas before 1700. Its reservation is the oldest in the state and consists of 10,200 acres located in the Big Thicket of Deep East Texas.
