A major milestone has been achieved during the construction phase of the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino. The expansion is a $60 million project.
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe own the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino.
On Wednesday a topping off ceremony was held for the final metal piece that was put into place. The roof is for the new restaurant and hotel. The topping off ceremony marks the half way completion point for the project.
This is first major expansion project at the casino. Plans for the expansion have been in the works for nearly ten years.
The expansion project also includes an expanded gaming area, new bar, and larger gift shop.
The hotel will offer 148 guest rooms and be five stories tall. There will also be a hospitality suite.
The project was developed to give guests a better experience. It is also to help increase tourism to area and create more employment opportunities. The project also provides economic development for the local area.
400 slot machines will also be added to the casino.
Local residents made up nearly 90 percent of the construction workers. Construction began last year.
Once the project is completed, 160 new jobs will be created. It is estimated that the project should be finished by fall of next year.
Additional projects could take place in the future. Some of those plans could be a new entertainment venue. More housing is another possibility. However, no timeline or dates have been announced.Back
