Hard Rock Casino Tejon's Massive Phase 2 Expansion Poised to Transform Kern County Into Premier Resort Destination

METTLER, Calif. Sept. 19, 2026 - Less than a year after opening its doors, Hard Rock Casino Tejon is preparing for the next chapter of its long-term development plan, with a major Phase 2 resort expansion expected to add a hotel tower, entertainment venue, spa, pool complex, and expanded dining options to the growing tribal gaming destination.

The expansion represents a significant milestone for the Tejon Indian Tribe and its development partner, Hard Rock International, as the property evolves from a standalone gaming facility into a full-scale entertainment resort serving travelers along California's busy Interstate 5 and Highway 99 corridors.

When the casino officially opened in November 2025, Hard Rock executives emphasized that the gaming facility was only the first phase of a much larger vision. The $600 million development introduced approximately 150,000 square feet of gaming space, more than 2,000 slot machines, over 50 table games, multiple dining venues, and Hard Rock's signature entertainment experience.

Phase 2 Expansion Planned

According to project updates, the next stage of development will include a 400-room Hard Rock hotel tower, a Hard Rock Live entertainment venue with approximately 2,700 to 2,800 seats, a Rock Spa, resort-style pools, additional restaurant concepts, and expanded guest amenities.

The property, located near the base of the Grapevine at 1777 Garone Road in Mettler, occupies a strategic position between Los Angeles and California's Central Valley. The site has long been viewed as one of the state's most accessible casino locations, attracting visitors traveling between Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley.

For the Tejon Indian Tribe, the development marks the realization of a decades-long effort to establish a gaming enterprise capable of creating long-term economic opportunities for tribal citizens while generating employment and tourism benefits for the surrounding region.

Economic Impact Continues to Grow

According to Hard Rock and tribal officials, the initial phase of the project generated more than 5,000 construction-related jobs and created over 1,000 permanent positions. The completed resort is expected to further strengthen the area's hospitality and tourism economy.

Recent reports indicate that Phase 2 remains part of the property's long-term development plan, with the hotel, entertainment venue, and resort amenities continuing to be promoted as key future additions. A January 2026 update reported that construction activity on the expansion would soon follow the successful launch of the casino.

While some industry observers have speculated about potential adjustments to the construction timeline, neither Hard Rock International nor the Tejon Indian Tribe has publicly announced any cancellation or significant change to the planned resort expansion.
