The Heights Casino plans 100-room Hyatt Place Hotel

A casino in northern California recently announced plans to build a new 100 room hotel. The casino is owned by the Trinidad Rancheria.

The The Heights Casino is located on 0.4 acres. Hyatt has partnered with the tribe and there will be a Hyatt Place property built there.

An environment assessment has been conducted on the property. This was done in order for the tribe to help secure a federal loan to build the hotel.

The Humboldt Alliance for Responsible Planning opposes the hotel project. On Thursday the group will host a meeting regarding the project. The group is upset that the public was not invited to provide input on the hotel development.

Comments from the public will be accepted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
