Hard Rock Casino Hotel Sacramento will celebrate New Years Eve tonight like it was 1999! Live music from the ultimate Prince tribute band plus special cocktails, holiday menus and a midnight balloon drop will all make tonight a memorable night of ringing in 2022.

The Prince tribute band is Marshall Charloff & Purple Experience. Tickets are $40. The performance will be in the ballroom. Doors open at 9:30, and all guests will receive complimentary party favors.

Hard Rock Sacramento opens Rocktane Gas & Smoke

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain has opened its new 24/7 Rocktane Gas & Smoke retail station The 4.500-square-foot addition features a 16-pump fuel station for gasoline and diesel, a convenience store and a drive-thru smoke shop.

Hard Rock Casino Sacramento: $75M Expansion Update

September 22, 2021

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain began a $75 million expansion project last June to add an indoor concert venue and a fuel station with a smoke shop and convenience store. The new construction began less than two years after the casino first opened in 2019.

The Hard Rock concert venue will be branded "Hard Rock Live", and the fuel station and smoke shop will be branded "Rocktane Gas and Smoke".

Opens May 2022
Construction is underway on Hard Rock Live, the indoor amphitheater for live concerts at Hard Rock Sacramento. This will be a 65,000-square foot-venue with a 2,500-seat capacity located adjacent to the Kumi Events Center. Hard Rock Live is expected to open by May 2022 and present 60 to 70 concerts next year.

Opens Late 2021
Construction is underway on Rocktane Gas and Smoke and will be completed later this year. The 24-hour facility will feature 16 fuel pumps, a drive-thru smoke shop and a convenience store.

Hard Rock Casino Sacramento's Long Road to a Dream

It was a long and difficult road over 17 years for the Estom Yumeka Maidu of the Enterprise Rancheria to see their dreams of a tribal casino become a reality. The grand opening of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain was October 30, 2019..

The tribe had an earlier plan to build gaming and entertainment resort that included a casino, a 170-room hotel & pool, restaurants and bars, gift shops, and conference facilities. The plan became stalled after strong litigation and opposition from neighboring Indian tribes.

As a result the project was cancelled. In September 2015 a new plan was announced that downsized the project from a a Class III casino to a Class II casino.

Class III Indian gaming is sometimes referred to as Vegas-style and is played against the house. Class II Indian gaming is played exclusively against other players and not the house. It does not require the tribe to get local or state government approval.

However, in February 2016 U.S. District Judge Troy Nunley ordered California to enter into a Class III gambling compact with the tribe. A compact was negotiated and signed by the governor followed by approval by the U.S. Department of Interior. This allowed construction to finally proceed.

However, the United Auburn Indian Community which owns Thunder Valley Casino Resort sued to stop construction of this casino which is 20 miles from Thunder Valley Casino. This lawsuit was rejected by the California appeals court on October 13, 2016. Two weeks later the United Auburn Indian Community filed an appeal in California's 3rd District Court. As a result all construction was ordered suspended.

In early 2018, a federal appeals court agreed with the tribe and ended the legal battle. Soon afterwards a branding partnership was signed with Hard Rock International and the casino was renamed Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain.

Construction resumed in the second half of 2018 and Hard Rock Casino at Fire Mountain opened October 30, 2019.

Hard Rock Casino Sacramento begins $75M expansion

June 11, 2021

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain will begin construction this month on a 2,500-seat indoor concert center named Hard Rock Live. The 65,000 square foot venue will be built on the north side of the casino adjacent to the Kumi Events Center. Opening date is May 2022.

As part of a $75 million expansion, Hard Rock Sacramento is also building a gas station called Rocktane Gas and Smoke. It will feature 16 fuel pumps, a 24-hour drive-thru smoke shop and a 4,000 square-foot convenience store. Rocktane Gas and Smoke will open in Fall 2021.

Hard Rock Sacramento plans to add 3,000-seat, indoor amphitheater

April 30, 2021

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento is planning to add an indoor amphitheater for live music and entertainment. The new venue will comprise 75,000 square feet and include 3,000 seats.

The plan is described in a draft Tribal Environmental Impact Report (TEIR) completed last March. The report states:

"The proposed live music amphitheater (live music venue) will be used for entertainment on a regular basis and not just for special events."

Hard Rock Sacramento is owned by the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of the Enterprise Rancheria. Since releasing the report, public comments have been gathered regarding the environmental impact of the project. A final review has not been announced and no timeframe has been issued for the project.
