Indoor smoking is only allowed in Wisconsin at tribal owned casinos. However, it may be stopped at the Lake of the Torches casino.

A study is being conducted by the Lac du Flambeau tribe about ending all indoor smoking at the casino.

For the 1,000 people that participated in the survey, half were in favor of a smoke free environment. Agreeing that they would more likely visit a smoke free gaming venue.

All types of players of the Lake of the Torches casino were represented in the study.

Currently of the members that live on the Lac du Flambeau reservation, over 40 percent are smokers. The idea of a non smoking casino will face challenges. Referendum will need to be approved by members of the tribe.

Non smoking casino visitors represent 75 percent of all of the casino visitors. Overall, only 1 in four people smoke in Wisconsin.

In 2010, the state banned indoor smoking in all public buildings. However, native American tribes have been exempt from the ban on their land.
