PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Elwha River Casino to Host Artisan Alley Craft Show in Conjunction with Tribal Journeys 2009
The 2009 Tribal Journey, hosted by the Suquamish Tribe, marks the 20th anniversary of the historical 1989 "Paddle to Seattle" which was the first traditional intertribal canoe voyage in over a hundred years. The canoes will land in Port Angeles, at Hollywood Beach on Wednesday, July 29, on their way to their final destination. The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe will host the canoe families from July 29 - 31, 2009. In conjunction with the Tribal Journeys 2009, the Elwha River Casino will be hosting the first Elwha River Artisan Alley; an arts and crafts fair, July 29 - 31, from 10:00am - 8:00pm, in conjunction with the Tribal Journeys 2009. The Artisan Alley craft fair will feature Coast Salish artwork from local artists, along with a variety of vendors selling items ranging from locally roasted coffee to souvenirs that will commemorate the 2009 Tribal Journeys.
"The Elwha River Artisan Alley Craft Show will be open to the public and will allow paddle participants and the local community members the opportunity to purchase Coast Salish artwork from area artists and vendors," said Joni Eades, Marketing Manager for the Elwha River Casino.
"In addition to encouraging people to go watch the canoes land on Hollywood Beach," Eades added, "we want to invite people to come and see what local artists and vendors have to offer!"
The Elwha River Artisan Alley will be located on the Elwha River Casino property, located at 631 Stratton Road, in Port Angeles. Anyone interested in participating in the craft show is encouraged to contact Joni Eades at (360) 452-3005.
