On Wednesday, a 2 to 1 vote was passed by Adams County Commissioners approving a
new Casino Hotel plan near Gettysburg National Military Park.
Located about a half mile from Gettysburg, the purposed casino will have 600
slot machines and 50 gaming tables. The hotel will have 307 guest rooms. An
estimated 1 million would be paid by the casino operators yearly to the Adams
The state's Gaming Commission will have final say if the project will be allowed
to continue. There will be a hearing held to discuss this on August 31 at the
Comfort Inn on Baltimore Pike.
The National Park memorializes the Civil War and the approximate 5,500 soldiers
that lost their lives there. President Abraham Lincoln also delivered his famous
speech there, the Gettysburg Address.
