WILKES BARRE - Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority along with Mohegan Sun officials and JCJ Architecture presented design plans yesterday to add more than 80 table games this summer. The games include poker, blackjack, craps and other table games.
To make room for these new games about 300 slot machines will be moved to a new gaming room called "The Grove" located next to Bar Louie. Another new table games area will be constructed near Timbers Buffet and Johnny Rockets, and a poker room will be added poker room on the lower level.
Construction has been underway and the new facilities are expected to be operating by late June or early July.
Robert Soper, president and chief executive officer of Mohegan Sun, said "This is not only a huge milestone for our organization, but it's a huge milestone for the commonwealth and for surrounding communities. It also means more jobs."
The table game expansion will create an estimated 600 new full-time jobs at Mohegan Sun.
"Some positions are being added to support tables and some are being added because of the additional volumes," Soper said. "Any time you can add 600 jobs when you have near double-digit employment, it's a great benefit."
