PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh city planning commission has approved the signs,
lighting, and a new amphitheater for the new Rivers Casino. The action clears
one of the last final hurdles and follows two years of struggles with
construction obstacles and community opposition.
The two remaining requirements are:
1. The developers must grant the city an easement for public access across
casino property to the riverfront trail.
2. The casino must still get city approval for lighting plans and displays
including limiting the brightness of exterior lighting.
