Foxwoods is building new casino in Pennsylvania and the location is still unknown. Possible location may be in the downtown Philly area called The Gallery at Market East. The casino will occupy 300,000 square feet above the market that is located at 10th and Market streets. Originally the new casino was to be built in the South Philly area, but was not well received by the locals. Therefore a new location had to be found.

The slots parlor is permitted in Pennsylvania as part of a gaming law passed in 2004. The Foxwoods company is aiming to have the casino open by 2010. The city hopes to generate revenue from the casino to benefit tax rebate programs for residents and fund the expansion of the Philadelphia Convention Center.

Building in the downtown area will place the casino near historical sites. This may bring new concerns to the citizens. The state Gaming Board will be consulted to give their approval for Foxwoods to switch their locations. Foxwoods must also must receive city approval.
