The ground was broken today on the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa's new hotel tower. This will be the third tower for the hotel casino and will cost around $52 million when completed.

The construction is estimated to take 12 months to complete. The lower part of the tower will hold the new 55,000 gaming and entertainment area. That section is expected to finish in nine months. The upper section of the tower will be for the added 100 guest suites. When completed, the tower will be 10 stories tall.

Last February, the property was damaged by a blizzard causing part of the roof to collapse. That section is where the new tower is being built. When reopened, guest will enjoy the new gaming area. As well as the new food court and new restaurants.

A sports themed media bar is the planned big attraction for the new area. It will be two stories tall and also offer smoke free gaming. Video screens will be featured on curved walls.

The company is hopeful that the growth of the casino will help to give more money to the Cherokee Nation's social services.
