An agreement was made to buy 150 acres by the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.
The land is in Monroe off of Interstate 75.
The land will be used for the tribe's future casino.
The purchase price for the land has not been released.
Card games and bingo gaming machines are currently allowed under Ohio gaming
laws. However, the tribe is hopeful to develop a class three casino. A gaming
compact will need to be negotiated between the state and the tribe. If approved,
the Monroe casino would be allowed to offer addition games such as roulette and
blackjack. As well as high stakes bidding.
Gaming expansion is currently opposed by Governor Taft.
